Services

Most of the people that I work with are productive, intelligent people who are seeking to resolve problems in their everyday life. Common issues include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Life transitions
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationships and intimacy
  • Finding a meaningful life direction
  • Career and work challenges
  • Creative block/performance anxiety
  • Grief and loss

Consultation and Getting Started

I suggest that we start with an in-depth consultation, generally 2-4 sessions. Together we will explore the issues that bring you to therapy. You are encouraged to speak as openly as you can, including any doubts or questions that you have about therapy. I hope that by the end of the consultation you will have a better sense of how therapy might help, as well as some fresh thoughts about yourself and your difficulties. If after meeting it seems like another approach would be more helpful for you, I will do my best to help you with referrals to meet your needs.

Psychotherapy

Successful psychotherapy is rooted in careful listening and attention to your words and your story. You can expect me to listen closely and to share my questions and observations with you. As we go along, you should have the feeling that sessions are helpful and beginning to make a difference. My aim is, first, to help you resolve the pressing concerns and issues that bring you to therapy in the first place, and ultimately to get to the root of these issues so they do not recur in the future. You can expect to gain a greater sense of confidence and freedom, improve your relationships (romantic, family, and professional), resolve self-defeating behavior patterns, feel more able to make decisions based on your own judgment, and reconnect with a sense of passion and vitality for life.

Psychoanalysis

I offer psychoanalysis for those who seek fundamental changes in their experience of life. Psychoanalysis is an intensive and collaborative process, with meetings throughout the week. It is demanding, but the rewards are significant. You might consider psychoanalysis if:

  • You want to address long-standing, repetitive patterns of unhealthy relationships, low self-esteem, depression or anxiety
  • Despite having a successful life by external standards, you consistently feel a sense of emptiness, unhappiness, or being an imposter
  • You have previously been in psychotherapy but were disappointed with the results
  • You have previously been in psychotherapy but are are seeking a deeper experience

Clinical Supervision

I offer clinical supervision to mental health professionals who are interested in continuing their learning and deepening their clinical work. This can be a one-time consultation or ongoing supervisory work. Please contact me to discuss your needs.
